AN UNQUESTIONABLE REPUTATION
In 1946, the idea to build 6,000 tourist beds and some mechanical ski lifts at Les Tovets plateau was put forward. In 1947, the first hotels were built. The initial project included a cable car that was built 6 years later. Since then, the resort has become a powerful avant-garde destination comprising six individual villages, an international icon of French know-how, heaven-on-earth for fans of shopping and fashion, Michelin-starred cuisine and other festive pleasures, as well as for those looking to experience unforgettable days and memorable evenings.
ATMOSPHERE AND ARCHITECTURE
It is here in Courchevel 1850 that you’ll find most of the luxury hotels, high-end private chalets and Michelin-starred restaurants. Recent architectural styles have been added to the original charming buildings, making sure that wood and stone remain the key materials, therefore creating a rare harmony.
SKIING
From the very beginning, Courchevel was considered as the first ski-in, ski-out resort, providing access to a wide range of slopes for all levels of ability, from the most challenging black run to the widest and easiest slope. The higher you go, the more technical the slopes are, but there are still blue slopes from La Saulire peak that led down into Courchevel Village.
FOR CHILDREN
The huge Family Park is a great place for fans of boardercross and various obstacles. For the little ones, there’s the Children’s Village, run by the ESF ski school. Families will love the 2 km sledging run down into the Village, opportunities to practice their tricks at the ice rink, watching the sled dogs playing in the snow, and the ponies trotting around.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Pretty much all activities are on offer here! Snowmobile, electric scooter, driving a snow vehicle, yoga, paragliding. You can go on a hot-air balloon ride, get an introduction to survival techniques in the mountains and even fly drones. All these activities can be found on the website for Courchevel Aventure. Visitors also enjoy wandering around the narrow streets, exploring the shops and spending time at the bars and restaurants!
